Wrigley Field has never hosted a volleyball match. On Sunday, September 6, 2026, that will change. The inaugural Allstate Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week will run from September 1 to September 6, featuring 34 programs, 27 matchups across 10 host campuses. It is being promoted as the biggest regular-season showcase in women's college volleyball history. The event brings together two of the strongest conferences in the NCAA and places a Sunday doubleheader at the iconic home of the Chicago Cubs. Arkansas opens against Rutgers on September 1 at Historic Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, airing on SECN+. Arkansas arrives with a 3-0 record after sweeping SIUE, UTA and UTSA at home. The marquee matches are scheduled for September 6 at Wrigley Field: No. 3 Kentucky faces No. 13 Penn State at 7 p.m. ET, followed by No. 1 Nebraska versus Missouri at 9 p.m. ET, both live on FOX. Allstate is the title sponsor under a two-year deal that includes in-venue branding and match-day activations at every site. The commercial structure signals that women's college volleyball is being treated as a media product, not just a campus sport. Broadcast rights, sponsorship and a landmark venue are now part of the package. Still, this is not a championship. No trophy is awarded. The matches can influence NCAA tournament perception, but the event is ultimately a marketing exercise. The dense schedule of 27 matches in six days creates fatigue and travel risks. Wrigley Field, being an outdoor venue, adds weather uncertainty. The real test is whether new fans will stay beyond the novelty. The answer will only be clear after the two-year Allstate deal ends.
